I feel like I've started every one of these blogs this year talking about how busy the month has been, but the same definitely goes for August. Luckily, a lot of the stuff keeping me busy this month are good things and a lot of changes, which have got me fairly excited. In fact, I've found it hard to pick just ten things that are putting a smile on my face, but here they are:

This week I am all set for what is sure to be an amazing wedding, a two-night hotel stay with the husband and a flying visit to Chester to see an old friend - meaning that the next few days are going to be absolutely mad! On top of this, I can almost publicly share my latest good news and time is flying so it will soon be happening, which is all very exciting.
While there is so much going on, you can expect to see a slight lull in blogs, but I'm determined to catch up and have now tried all of the products I have lined up for reviews so will catch up soon. Luckily, this week will also give me plenty to write about, so I'm looking forward to spending next weekend typing it all up. As usual when there is a lot happening in a short space of time, I need a good start to the week to set me up for everything that is coming. After not posting a Motivational Monday blog last week, here's some positivity to start your week and hopefully get me off on a good footing. Those who have been following my blog will know that I've been struggling with fertility issues and that this was the main factor behind me deciding to undergo my gastric band operation. We were due to start our fertility this month after I had been losing weight for the last year, but unfortunately, not everything has gone to plan and I've been trying to work through how I feel about it all.
We initially got referred to the fertility clinic last year, but the appointment came about after I had my gastric band and so it wasn't the best time to start anything, especially as I needed to lose weight to improve my health. The last year I have pushed myself, learned to love exercise and have lost just shy of eight stone while dropping from a size 26 to a size 14. When the year anniversary of getting my band had passed, I did as I was told and went to the GP to see if we could re-referred to the clinic to start our fertility treatment. I was told that everything looked great and that we could indeed make a start on the next stage, so I got the appointment and had to wait five weeks to get to the clinic. Unfortunately, despite the GP's assurances that we were on track, it turns out I haven't quite lost enough weight to be able to start treatment, which was absolutely devastating. Despite losing so much weight, dropping I don't know how many inches and generally drastically improving my health, I don't quite qualify for treatment due to my body mass index (BMI) not quite being where it needs to be. My skin has been struggling recently. Since losing weight and taking certain medications, my hormones have gone completely haywire, which, in turn, affects the look and feel of my skin. I've found that it is a lot oilier than usual at the moment and is a lot more prone to spots, blackheads and enlarged pores, all of which isn't great.
I used to have really bad skin when I was younger so I have always worked hard to look after it and stop breakouts. Unfortunately, none of my usual tricks have been working so I went back to an old standby and am so glad I did because Brazened Honey Fresh Face Mask from Lush is seriously saving my skin right now. I've mentioned this face mask in a previous blog I did, but it is so good it definitely deserves a full review - especially as it has transformed my face over the last week or so. It was actually the first Lush face mask I ever used and has been the one I've always come back to, so now I only ever swap my five black pots for this mask. I feel like I have reviewed so many body scrubs since starting this blog, but I have struggled to find one that delivers all the results I want and that I'd be happy to keep buying. I've made my own, tried sugar, salt and coffee varieties and have had some good and a lot of bad results. However, I think I may have found the body scrub that solves all my skin woes.
I'm a big fan of Heyland & Whittle products and have used their soaps, candles and reed diffusers for years, so I was really excited when they bought out a luxury body scrub. I was even more excited when they gave me one to try, especially as I know how fantastic all their other products are. |
