One member shared a picture taken by a friend in B&M showing this pretty awful set of scales. The quote was originally said by Kate Moss back in the 1990s and was exclusionary back then, let alone in 2016 when people are fighting for a greater level of acceptance for all beautiful bodies.
Messages like this are damaging to the body positive movement and help to perpetuate negative stereotypes. Not only that, but the sentiment is a lie, as a lot of things taste better than skinny feels. Here's just ten of them:
- A full vegetarian roast dinner with homemade Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese and all the gravy.
- Tiramisu, especially the authentic tiramisu from Constatino's in Armley.
- Seafood linguine with a white wine cream sauce. Seriously, what's not to love?
- Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I don't even care which doughnut, as they are all amazing.
- Faken (vegetarian bacon, although I'm sure meaty bacon is also good) sandwiches made with fresh bread rolls and real butter.
- Homemade white chocolate mousse complete with milk chocolate spoons. My husband strongly agrees with this one.
- Ice cream, but Ben and Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream is particularly amazing.
- Any meal that comes covered in my homemade stilton sauce, especially if it also comes with beer-battered onion rings.
- Mornings that start with a latte and a cinnamon swirl definitely taste better than skinny feels.
