All he wanted today was a new computer game and a fry up, but I have a few surprises up my sleeve to show him how brilliant I think he is. I'm very lucky to have met and married such a supportive and kind person - even if he does drive me mad sometimes!
Today I am wishing my amazing husband a very happy birthday. He may hate the fact that he is getting older, but each year is another one we have spent together (this is year seven), so I love celebrating our birthdays.

It doesn't matter where I'm going or how long I'm staying in one place, I like to make myself feel at home. When I moved into student halls in my first year of uni, I transformed my room and added so much to it that we had to make two trips with a people carrier and a trailer to clear everything out.
I then moved into a house with friends and this got worse so that my influence could be seen in almost every room, even when my husband moved in. While I got rid of a lot of stuff when we moved to Leeds and have done several huge clear outs in the last three years, it is very easy to see who lives here. In fact, when family and friends from down south come to visit for the first time, they all comment on how very 'me' our house is. This isn't to say that my husband doesn't have an influence on our decor. He does have a say but he is very happy for me to do the decorating. This is how I've been able to make a feature out of five items that help me to feel at home and will be used to make any new house ours. Here are five things I need to have on show to make our house a home:
Those of you have been following along for the last few weeks will know that I underwent a gastric band procedure at the start of the month. While I'm healing up well, I'm still on a restricted diet - a very restricted diet.
Until July 1st, I am only allowed liquids, which really is as awful as is sounds. While I've done liquid diets before, I could always have something solid to break the monotony. This time around, I have to stick to it or I can risk causing myself pain. At least I have soft and blended food to look forward to in July. If you're thinking of trying a liquid diet, check out these five things I've learnt from my most recent one: Let me preface this blog by saying that no, I won't be doing weekly updates following my surgery. Not only would that be boring for you, it'd be tedious for me. After this, updates will mostly be monthly unless something huge happens and I want to shout it from the rooftops.
Anyway, I am now two weeks post-op and I am thoroughly sick of not being able to do as much in a day as I usually would. Luckily, things are starting to get easier and I can try and get back to normal life. Here's what's been going on this week: I've been eyeing up a number of different beauty subscription boxes over the last few weeks, trying to decide which one I should sign up for. Two of the most popular are Glossybox and Birchbox, so I compared past boxes to see which I would have been happiest receiving.
Glossybox was the winner by a large margin so I decided to treat myself to it seeing as I can't get around much at the moment following my operation. The day I got the dispatch email was the day it arrived, so postage is incredibly quick. I'm really happy with all of the products in this box so I think I made the right decision. Here's each of the products in June's box and what I think of them: |
