I'm a big nester and like to inject my personality into a space, even if its just a hotel room I'm spending the night in. This helps me feel relaxed and happy, as well as resulting in a colourful environment that showcases some of mine and the husband's favourite things.
One place I've bought some great stuff from - including a lot of pin-up girl bedding - is George at Asda. In fact, I regularly check online to see what new things they have in. This has resulted in a broad wishlist that I think will work great in our current house as well as when we move.
Here are some things that are waiting in my basket:
I'm a big fan of all things nautical, perhaps because I was born and raised beside the sea and brought up on boats. As well as already having one nautical tattoo, an appointment for another and more nautical-themed household items than you could shake a stick at, I also have an extensive nautical wishlist.
Three of my favourite products include the Panel Tattoo Duvet Set, Let's Set Sail Votive Candle Set and 100% Cotton Tattoo Bath Towel, which is currently out of stock. I think all of these would be ideal for the guest room and will give men plenty of excuses to buy even more nautical stuff.
The husband recently built himself a new gaming PC and we got some new storage for the games room so we have started looking at ways to add a bit more personality to the room and include even more storage for all his tech stuff and gadgets.
We've already chosen some Parlour Tattoo Prints to hang in the room, but I want to include a few geeky finishing touches too so it looks finished and represents the husband. I absolutely love the George Home Robot Pot Lamp and Cassette Rug, both of which suit my husband's retro taste and work with the black Kallax unit I bought him from Ikea.
I also like the Woven Black 4 Drawer Unit, especially as it will be a stylish way to store all of the husband's small nicknacks and tools.
I love all the little finishing touches that help to complete the theme of a room and make a statement, so it's no surprise that there are a few cute but random things on my George wishlist.
One thing I have to have in my living room is a large mirror over the fireplace. We currently have a simple one with a wooden frame that is nice but nothing special, so I really want to replace it with the French Style Ornate Mirror, especially as it will look awesome with the flamingo wallpaper I have to put on our statement wall.
Not only do I really like fashion and interiors from the 1940s and 50s, I'm partial to the geometric art deco designs from the 1920s - Particularly when it comes to the look of our bedroom, which already features a gold bedstead and gold and glass bedside lamps. This means the Bronze Effect Wire Origami Pendant Light Fitting will look perfect in the space.
Finally, one item I need just because it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, which is one of my favourite stories, the theme of our wedding and a big part of the decorating inspiration in our house, is the Rabbit Lamp. I have no idea where I'm going to put it, I don't really need it, but I definitely want it and will deal with logistics later on.
I'm pretty sure that I'll have replaced everything I got rid of in our big house clear out in no time.
