When I say that Love Lula's beauty box keeps getting better and better, I mean it. There wasn't one product I got in April that I wouldn't happily use again. In fact, a couple of them I desperately want to buy as they have been incredible for my skin. I'm going to be really sad when I run out of them, especially as I have a busy few months so may not be able to justify treating myself.
Here's what I got in the box and why everything was fantastic:
Madara AHA Peel Mask
In fact, from the first use this time around I was really impressed. I learned my lesson from last time and actually exfoliated my skin the day before I planned to use this mask. It doesn't have any scrubby bits to it like the usual masks I use, so if your skin needs to be exfoliated, do this first. However, don't do it on the same day as the mask is super powerful so combining it with a scrub can be a bit much and leave your face red and a little bit fragile - trust me on this.
When I first used this, my skin was looking dull and feeling tired after moving house, so it was in desperate need of a pick-me-up. I applied the mask to dry skin and left it for just ten minutes before washing off with a warm, damp flannel. The results were instantaneous. Not only did my skin feel super clean, it was moisturised, smooth, toned and so much brighter - even my husband noticed.
I really felt like my skin had absorbed a lot of goodness and still do each time I use it. Because the mask is so powerful and quick to work, I've even used it in the morning to help wake me up, as well as in the shower, and each time it has delivered. The mask is £20 but I have used mine once or twice a week and I still have loads left as you hardly need any, this means it is definitely worth the investment.
Apple and Bears Body Wash in Bergamot and Green Tea
The body wash didn't let me down as the fragrance is incredibly uplifting without being overpowering. It is the perfect scent for a hot day when you need to feel refreshed, as well as early mornings that require something really powerful to wake you up. It also has a great colour that is completely natural, although you can't see this until you pour it out of the bottle.
Although I only got a small sample bottle, I have used this wash a few times and still have some left. A little bit goes a long way, especially if you use a shower puff or exfoliating gloves. Even without these, you get a beautifully rich lather that is incredibly soft and leaves you feeling completely clean.
The fragrance clings to your skin a bit but not so it's really strong, which I like if I haven't got a matching body lotion or if I want to wear perfume. It also leaves your skin feeling crazy soft and smooth - I actually didn't end up moisturising after using it as my skin felt that good - so you know it's doing good things. I'm really tempted to try some of the brands other body washes and products now, especially as they use organic ingredients and don't use parabens or SLS,, which I try to avoid.
FOM London Antioxidant Hydra Plump and Firm Cream
I'm not even exaggerating a little bit. I'd leave the review there because that basically says it all, but I definitely need to explain why this moisturiser is so amazing.
For starters, this is the softest and lightest cream I've ever used. The tiniest amount - and I mean tiny - is enough to cover your whole face and actually feel like it is doing something. I only need to lightly dip my index finger into the cream to get a light coating in order to have enough to moisturise my whole face. Although it is light, it still feels wonderfully rich and yet melts into the skin effortlessly.
It has a really silky feel that doesn't weigh your skin down or make it oily. In fact, my face actually feels cleaner and fresher once I have applied it, even though I will have only washed my face a few minutes before. Despite this, it genuinely feels like it is deeply moisturising and my skin has felt firmer and plumper since using it.
I haven't had to use a makeup primer since using this cream as my skin is already ridiculously smooth and my pores are toned, making a primer a bit obsolete. It actually works as a great base for makeup and I don't suffer from makeup meltdown even at the gym, which is fairly amazing.
I have now been using this cream almost every day for two months and I still have over half of my little sample pot left, which is good news as the full-size product comes in at £49.99. I honestly think it is worth this price and if I didn't have birthdays, christenings, hen parties and weddings over the next couple of months, I'd be putting an order in now.
Greenfrog Botanic Hand Wash in Peppermint and Geranium
I was a bit worried about the fragrance at first, as floral and mint shouldn't go together. However, I was pleasantly surprised as it really does work and results in a refreshing scent that sits really nicely on the skin. Not only that, but it actually gets rid of smells like garlic and onion, which is why this hand wash no resides in my kitchen.
Just as with the body wash, the hand wash is nice and thick so you don't need a lot - I still have two-thirds of my bottle left despite daily use. It doesn't foam up like washes that use chemical foaming agents, instead it creates a very light lather. The wash also seems to get silkier when you add water so spreads over the skin really easily and leaves it feeling just as clean - if not cleaner - as the soaps you can grab on the high street. I also found that it helped to soothe dry skin on my hands, even without following up with moisturiser, which is ideal.
On top of this, I've used the hand wash to clean my makeup brushes, for which you only need the tiniest amount. It works better than any other soap or cleaning solution I've used and cuts through the makeup ridiculously quickly. I may even get around to cleaning my brushes more often because it makes it so much easier.
All in all, another fab box that I've really enjoyed trying. I still have a couple of products to use from May's box but my review will be up soon.
