The Socialight card means you're entitled to discounts in some of the shops and restaurants located in The Light shopping centre on the Headrow in Leeds. I mostly signed up for it for the £5 burritos at Barburrito, but it gives you money off at the the Vue cinema, Browns, Zizi's and Fabrication, among other places.
Once you have a Socialight card, you can also signed up for Socialight Sundays, which are the first Sunday of every month. A few different things happen on these days, including free swim sessions at Virgin Active, free parking, a free creche and a free cinema screening.
You also need to register if you want the free parking and creche, which you can only do if you have a card.
The cinema screening happens in the small private screen at The Vue, which is available for hire. They even put out the red carpet for us and had somewhere there to tick our name off the guest list and hand out packets of sweets. Probably the best thing though is that the screening misses out the half an hour of adverts before the film - although we did have to put up with details about the Socialight card flashing on the screen constantly.
Everyone at the screening was really nice and the room was quite intimate so I had a chat with a few people, all of whom were just as excited as I was for the film. I definitely recommend signing up for a Socialight card and registering your interest in Socialight Sundays - the earlier the better as there are limited seats.
The Light also hosts a lot of other events, with some open to the public and others just for card holders.
It's just another little perk to living in Leeds.
