Fairypants is based in Chester and all of their products are made by hand, which ensures great quality and means you know that a lot of care has gone into each product. They were nice enough to send me a couple of goodies to try out, which have now got me wishing payday was closer so I can buy a few more products.
I've been using these products for a couple of weeks now and am really impressed with their quality and the results I've gotten. Here's what I think about both the products I've tried so far:
Marshmallow Lip Scrub
I've been using lip scrubs from Lush for a few years because they are really exfoliating, however, I never feel like they've moisturised my lips a lot and so I need to use a lip balm straight afterwards and let it sink in for a while before applying lipstick. The marshmallow lip scrub from Fairypants offers the same level of exfoliation - they both use sugar to be gentle but effective - but it is so much more moisturising.
Each of the scrubs is made with the same ingredients as Fairypants' lip balms, which means they have an incredibly nourishing base. This includes sweet almond oil - so not suitable if you have an allergy - shea butter and jojoba oil. On top of this, the scrub contains a flavour oil so it tastes and smells like marshmallows - I've been tempted just to eat the jar but have refrained.
I've found that the best way to use the scrub is to lick your lips first, scoop out a small amount and just massage it in small circular motions. There are a few areas of my lips that need a bit more focus so I tend to scrub a bit harder when I get to these but you don't need to go at it hammer and tongs. When you're done, just lick the scrub off your lips, which will leave most of the oils in place to leave your lips feeling nice and soft.
All in all, I'm a lot more impressed with this scrub than I have been with any of Lush's in the last few years. It is a lot more effective and my lips don't feel dry throughout the rest of the day. Plus there's the fact that it's only £3.99 for a jar, which is a total bargain.
Amaretto and Cola Lipbalm
So far, I've been massively impressed with Fairypants' Amaretto and Cola lipbalm. Not only is it chock full of natural ingredients - the same oils as the lip scrub - it sinks into your lips really nicely but leaves a light protective layer over them that keeps them moisturised without feeling greasy. Since I've been using the balm and scrub, I've had no flaked, split or chapped areas on my lips and they still feel moisturised even when I don't apply anything.
On top of the beauty benefits, it also smells and tastes pretty great, which is an important part of any lip product in my book. I'm now trying to decide which other flavours to try and which one the husband will like as he is always moaning about chapped lips in winter.
These are two products I definitely recommend and I'm hoping to try some more in the future so look out for more Fairypants reviews.
