It's really hard to judge which box to go for by looking at past boxes as they are so varied, this is why I ordered another Glossybox, as well as monthly boxes from Love Me Beauty, Birchbox and LoveLula. All of the boxes can be cancelled at anytime so you aren't tied into a contract for a year, which is great if you just want to try one out.
Each box has it's merits, so here's what I thought of them all:
Glossybox
This leads me to think that Glossybox is going to be a bit hit and miss, especially after a few people I've spoken to about the brand has said they were put off keeping up with their subscriptions after getting several disappointing boxes. While the cost is low - £10 a box - it could still mean that you end up paying for products that are just going to get wasted or that you just give away, which is what I'm doing with items from this month.
The good thing about Glossybox is that you can reactivate your subscription at any time to receive a one off box if a month's products look good. While you can't guarantee that you'll get exactly what other people on social media get - you fill in a beauty profile so products are slightly tailored - you can get a good idea of contents.
I'll be keeping an eye on the monthly boxes to see if there are any great products or absolute bargains, but for now my subscription is getting cancelled.
Love Me Beauty
I found this to be a really great way to do it as you have a lot of options and can try things that you really want to, ensuring nothing goes to waste. The only downside is that you don't get as many products as other beauty boxes, which can make it really tempting to add credits on and increase your monthly cost.
Your products also come in a handy makeup bag that can you can actually use rather than a box that just takes up space. I may do a second order to see if you get a bag each time - which would be a bit ridiculous - or if your products arrive in something else after your initial order.
The things I got in my Love Me Beauty order are actually great and I'm going to buy a full-size version of one of them - the Pixi Glow Tonic. In fact, they had so many products that use natural ingredients, aren't animal tested and are paraben-free that I was spoilt for choice.
Birchbox
One of the things I like about Birchbox is that it has a nice mix of makeup, skincare and haircare, without being too heavy in one direction. It also has a really nice mix of brands, all of which I'm happy to give a try. In fact, I think I might keep this box for another month to see whether this box is just a fluke or if there's always a great balance of products.
I also really like the box everything came in, as it was just the right size for everything - the Glossybox box was a bit big so it needed extra packaging. The fact that they do theme boxes is really nice and I can see myself using them for makeup storage.
LoveLula
Everyone gets exactly the same box for £10 and there is no survey to fill in about your beauty preferences, but all of the products are so lovely, I don't even think this matters. You also get a good range of different products - this month I got three skincare products and two makeup items - so there is a good amount of variety.
If you like the items in your box, you can buy them through the site with 20% off, something that I'm going to do as I've tried everything and each product is amazing and has left my skin feeling fab. I also like the fact that there is so little packaging - Glossybox and Birchbox come inside other boxes, while Love Me Beauty came in a bag, all of which is very wasteful - so you can just pop your box in the recycling when you're done with it.
The only downside is that no matter when in the month you order, you won't get your first box until the following month, which means you can't get a one-off box if the products look great. As I want to keep my subscription going, this isn't a problem, but it would be nice to have the option.
This is the subscription box that I'm going to keep for the full year as I am so impressed with it, and it is the one that I really recommend to anyone who wants a good box to try out.
