It's the last month of 2016, which is kind of a positive thing in the first place as so much bad stuff has happened to the world this year (I'm still not over Bowie's death). However, December has already been good month for me and lots of things are making me happy. There's plenty to look forward to, as well as some good things that have already happened. Here are just ten things that I'm loving this December:

Welcome to the penultimate installment of Motivational Monday this year. It's also my last Monday in Leeds during 2016 as I'm heading to the South West on Saturday. Unfortunately, that means I have a lot to cram into five days so this week is going to be just as mad as the last few.
On the plus side, this means it is definitely almost Christmas, which I am very excited for now. If you're not quite in the festive spirit and need a bit of a push to get you going, as ever, here is some extra motivation. I've been a bit quiet on here so far this month, but I promise I have good reasons. The last couple of weeks have been fairly mad, which has left me feeling totally shattered. This is not how I like to feel when December rolls around, especially as Christmas is one of my favourite times of year.
Rather than writing blogs, I've been trying to gear myself up for Christmas and embrace the festive spirit a bit more as I haven't been as excited as I usually am. Luckily, Leeds is always a great place to get excited for December 25th and the last week has really got me into the right frame of mind. I'm now feeling really excited and can't wait to head to the South West next week to see my family and then the in-laws - even if it does mean leaving the husband on Leeds for a week and having the cat sitter look after our kitties over Christmas. As well as wrapping presents - which I absolutely love doing - there are a few other things in the city that have helped me feel a bit more festive. Last week was incredibly busy and I was left feeling like I needed to sleep for a month at the end of it. Sadly, the universe seems to have had other plans so I'm still almost as tired as I was after work on Friday. Things have been a little bit hectic this weekend, but I'm hoping everything might settle down this week to let me get things in order ready for Christmas and feel a bit more festive.
However, I've still got work, driving lessons and loads of other stuff to do before I can sit with my feet up and enjoy a warm mug of mead - it's so much bettter than mulled wine. If, like me, you've got a mountain of small tasks to get through this week, or even a list of big things to do, here's hoping that a bit of motivation will get you on the right track. My sister is totally going to kill me for writing this blog but I had to share her amazing work with everywhere. She's currently in her last year at Cardiff University and has come so incredibly far in her abilities, creating truly amazing jewellery under the name Mills Carter Designs.
I've no doubt that she's going to end up having her jewellery worn on the red carpet and shown off in some of the biggest Haute Couture magazines in the world, but I'll be able to say that this was the first blog to show off her pieces. Hopefully I'll also be able to say that my sister makes all my jewellery, but I'm still working on this. She's just posted photos of her most recent collection, which I've stolen for this blog along with some of her previous collections - don't sue me Andrea - and I think it is her most brilliant collection so far. I know I'm biased, but I'm sure you're all feel the same about her work too. |
