Today is meant to be Blue Monday, meaning it is meant to be the most "depressing" day of the year. As far as I'm concerned, any day when you have to get out of bed early after two days of lie-ins and PJs is pretty bad. However, I'm not really a believer in this Blue Monday thing.

One of my resolutions for this year was to do something to make myself smile every day and I've been sticking to this. I'm a person who puts self care on the back burner, but I'm changing that this year. That's not to say that I'm not going to do things for other people, but I want to make sure I'm not doing things at the expense of myself.
This means that there are plenty of things that are making me smile this month and I'm sure there will be a lot more after this blog is published. Here are just ten things making me feel happy: A few months ago, I wrote about my favourite salon in Leeds - you can read my blog here. Gray's Salon is genuinely the best salon I've been to while living t'up North - there's been a few - and even compared to the places I went while in the South West. Basically, you all need to go there.
However, you shouldn't go to Wortley to visit Gray's as you'll be disappointed due to the fact it isn't there any more. After months of planning and hard work, the salon has now moved to its new location in Stanningley. I can't pretend that I'm not slightly sad that the salon has moved, mostly because it was five minutes from my house so I could pop in to get my nails or eyebrows done while on my lunch hour when I was working from home. However, the salon really had outgrown their own location after a lot of hard work put in by the guys who work there. Last weekend, I headed to the Stanningley salon for the first time since they moved to get my hair did and I am absolutely in love with it. I don't often get given beauty presents for Christmas any more as I can be difficult to buy for and have such a selection in the bathroom already. However, this year I did get a couple of great ones, one of which featured a must-have product that has totally changed my skin.
My parents got me a great gift set from Pixi, which is a brand you definitely need to get aquainted with. It contained four products - a pack of Makeup Melting Cleansing Cloths and full-sized Glow Mud Cleanser, Glow Tonic and Rose Oil Blend. I've tried the Glow Tonic before and now use it every day, but the other products were totally new to me. However, they have made be want to try even more products from Pixi as they have all lived up to the hype. Here's how I've been getting on with each of the products - including the Glow Tonic, which I have reviewed previously - and why you definitely need to give Pixi a go yourself: It may only be the second Monday in January but it already feels a bit like the month should be over - and I haven't even done my trips to Manchester and London yet. Being ill and trying to get back into the swing of things has left me absolutely shattered, so getting up and ready for the week ahead was a big struggle.
There's still several weeks to get through before February though, so rather than wishing them away, I'm going to try and make the most of them, even if I have to do so while still half asleep. To help you get through the week, here's your weekly injection of Monday motivation: |
