Too much happened in 2017 to list it all, but here are 10 things that made me smile in the last 12 months and that I am really grateful for.
While the world may not have had a particularly great 2017, last year was for me personally pretty good. A lot happened and I was sometimes too busy to fit everything in, but I went to new places, met some fantastic people and had a lot of great times. Too much happened in 2017 to list it all, but here are 10 things that made me smile in the last 12 months and that I am really grateful for. One of the best things last year was getting to see my gorgeous nephew grow up. He's gone from this adorable tiny baby to a funny little guy with an amazing laugh and brilliant personality. Every time I see him he has changed and manages to make me smile so much. I'm looking forward to seeing how much he grows in 2018. I've spent more time with friends and have met loads of lovely new people. It's amazing how meeting just one fantastic individual can help you meet others. I have ended the year with a fantastic group of people in my corner - and in my living room drinking prosecco - which is not a bad way to see out 2017. This year saw me say goodbye to the job I moved to Leeds for almost 5 years ago. I learnt a lot, had some great opportunities and met some brilliant people through it, but it was time to leave. Everything I did in my old job meant I was able to get a new one that I really enjoy and that has brand new challenges. It has also meant I've been able to introduce the Film Game to more people. The husband also got out of his retail job, so it has been all change. My amazing sister graduated this year and will soon be heading off on a travel adventure. I am still so proud of everything she has accomplished. While I couldn't be there on the day to see her get her degree, it was still one of the best days of the year, especially after I'd seen first hand how much hard work she had put in. 2017 finally saw the husband and I move house after being in the same property since we moved to Leeds. We went from a cramped back to back to a house that is actually big enough for us, our stuff and our cats. Not only do we now have a garden, we each have a space of our own so we aren't always on top of each other. Even the cats are much happier now they have more space, while I just love the fact we can actually have people over now. I've carried on pushing myself with workouts and exercising - although it has been harder since changing jobs as I'm no longer across the road from the gym - and I've seen great results. Not only have I carried on losing weight, which is all part of a greater goal, I've been able to do things I didn't think I could. I actually enjoy exercise now and that is a big difference to where I was in 2016. Last year saw me pass my driving test after less than a year of lessons and buy my first car. Considering I never wanted to learn to drive, this was a pretty great accomplishment (even if I do say so myself). Being able to drive has made things so much easier and has had a positive impact on my confidence levels. Going to see people is easier, getting to the south-west is so much quicker and I no longer have to deal with the Megabus, which is a huge plus! 2017 was also awesome because I got to see two brilliant people get married. I always feel so lucky when someone asks me to be part of their wedding day and this one in particular was completely lovely. The effort they put into every detail was incredible and getting to see them so happy was always going to be amazing. Here's to many more happy years for the newlyweds. Not only did I lose a lot of weight in 2017 and get closer to my big goal, I found myself becoming a lot more confident. I've worn things I never would have before because I've learnt to love and respect my body a lot more. I know it isn't perfect and I'm totally okay with that. My body has been through a lot of changes and I'm trying to keep up with it but last year has left me feeling happier within myself and that's always going to be a good thing. Finally, 2017 saw me have more adventures and good times with the husband. We've gone to new places together, tried new things and have supported each other through everything the year threw at us. In fact, we ended the year happier than when it started and looking forward to a lot of things that are/could be happening in the next 12 months. I'm looking forward to celebrating being with him for 9 years and being married for 4. I also can't wait to celebrate turning 30 with him. In fact, I'm pretty excited to do everything with him this year.
