I may be hoping that August isn't quite as mad - although the fact that we have a visit from my parents and a wedding to attend means it probably will be - I have had plenty of things to smile about in July. So, to keep my blog positive after being fairly rubbish at keeping up with it over the last few weeks - I'm trying to get back into the swing of things - here's my monthly roundup of lovely things.
- I went on a trip to London to visit one of my favourite clients and managed the whole day without freaking out, which is quite an achievement considering the ongoing anxiety struggle. I actually really enjoyed the day, felt incredibly positive afterwards and didn't even mind that it meant an early morning on a Monday.
- I spent the weekend with a group of the loveliest and best people to celebrate my friend's impending nuptials. We went to Scarborough and rented a holiday apartment for a couple of nights and enjoyed some fun activities, as well as a lot of drinks. Everything about the weekend was great, although I was shattered by the time I got home on Sunday afternoon!
- This may be a random thing, but I've been saving lots of bees this month. They keep finding their way into our bathroom and the cats soon let me know there's an intruder so I've been able to supply them with sugar water and send them on their way. I love bees and think they're beautiful, so I'm happy I've been able to help a few out.
- Game of Thrones is back! Yes, this series may be shorter than previously and we may be so far ahead of the books that it is truly irritating for me as a fan of the series, but it's awesome and all the women are badass and incredible - yes, even Sansa. I'm always up for a bit of fantasy escapism, so getting to watch the show on the big screen is brilliant.
- Rattler Cyder has actually made it to Leeds! After four and a half years of only being able to buy it when I'm in the south west, I can now pop into a shop and pick it when I fancy. While I'm a bit gutted that I can only get one flavour, it's better than nothing and is a little taste of home.
- I'm trying to get back into walking more but the weather is not playing ball at the moment. I have made the most of the weather when the sun is shining, though and have been rewarded with some great walks through beautiful parks. I really do love my commute into the city.
- I also celebrated my gorgeous friend Rai's birthday this month by going back to my goth roots and rocking some The Craft realness. I would never have worn an outfit like this before now and it's such a shame as I love it. I'm still amazed by how much my confidence has transformed since last June and for me, this is the biggest plus of getting my gastric band. Also, I forgot how much I love these shoes!
- Evenings recently have been spent rewatching RuPaul's Drag Race and finally finding a decent place to watch both series of All Stars. I've found that the show is the only thing that really helps shut down my anxiety at the moment, but I don't really need that excuse to watch fierce drag queens and drink gin.
- Last but not least, this one ties into the hen party but I thought it deserved it's own picture because husky! One of the things we did in Scarborough for the hen party was to go on a husky trek. We were going to get pulled by the huskies, but the weather was too wet so we walked them instead, which meant extra cuddles. I got to walk Blue, who was the cutest thing and matched my red hair.
